Kinross Gold a Takeover Target?
Tuesday, 22 March 2011 00:29Low share prices of Kinross Gold brings down the price-to-net-asset value and makes the company one of the cheapest among the peers. Shares closed at 15.34 up over 4% today.
According to a report last month by Canaccord Genuity, the stock was trading at around 0.85 times net asset value, while the senior/intermediate producer average is 1.15 times. That's a significant amount of value an acquirer with a better valuation could extract.

GGGG a New Gold ETF
Wednesday, 16 March 2011 00:58The new ETF, GGGG, will consist of more gold-pure benchmark and won’t include silver or other types of miners. The two top holdings are Kinross Gold and Anglogold Ashanti. The Index tracks the performance of the largest and most liquid gold mining companies globally. Only companies that generate the vast majority of their business from gold are eligible to be included in the index.
The GGGG (Global X Pure Gold Miners ETF) will compete against the Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX) and Junior Gold Miners ETF (GDXJ). GDX has about $6.6 billion in assets and is the market leader.
TheStreet Upgrades Yamana Gold
Tuesday, 01 March 2011 01:10TheStreet Ratings' stock model upgraded Yamana Gold to 'Buy' from 'Hold'. Net income at this $9.2 billion market cap, gold miner grew by 344% to $160 million in the fourth quarter when compared to the year earlier quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Yamana Gold reported $535 million in revenue, an increase of 33.8% compared to the year earlier quarter.

Kinross vs. AngloGold: Should You Follow the Billionaires?

As for gold stocks, they both kept NovaGold (NG) untouched. Paulson dropped some Kinross (KGC) and AngloGold (AU), but kept his overall holdings in the yellow metal unchanged. He is the biggest shareholder of AngloGold.
